Six days of adventure and lots of fun!
#Vietnam
Our Chief Security Officer, Edwin, left us for holiday after Day 1 in Vietnam |
My lifeline! |
View from the rooftop bar in Saigon |
I wore sandals to the bar. They gave me slippers to wear. The slippers were too small. |
Boat things! |
After hopping aboard the pineapple express |
Our motor boat transportation along the Mekong Delta! |
Nam, my 82 year old rice paper making friend. |
She makes rice paper each morning and sells it in the local markets. |
My attempt was pretty good! |
Morning snack at Nam's home. Coconut jam (bottom left) was really good with the flat cracker) |
Homestay. Namaste. |
Homestay main room. |
We learned how to make steamed banana and rice rolls |
Fruit orchard tour and tasting |
Early morning at the floating market |
Boats. The bigs sell to the smalls. The small sell to local markets and homes along the river. |
We took a bike ride on two different days. So fun to see the countryside and local homes at a slower pace. |
Rice noodle making. What do I do?! |
I got the hang of it! |
19th Century home built by the french! |
Local beers that I actually really liked. They resembled snowflakes and were super light. |
Learning about the Cu Chi Tunnels. The pointers show our location. |
The tunnels were 3-4 layers deep underground and had everything from kitchens to medical tents. |
The tunnels were made by hand using mallets like the one shown here. |
Post office in Saigon |
Special delivery. Postage was 20 dong per postcard (~$0.90 USD) |
Making donuts at a locals home in the Mekong Delta |
Performer from Anthah Temple |
I splurged and got an hour long foot massage for a few dollars. It included a neck, shoulders, and back portion as well. |
My friends and I took time do go to this museum and it was SO worth it. The 2.5 hours went by so fast. |
Agent Orange |
*Water bottle for size comparision |
The mani/pedi was worth it too! |
Scooter gang |
My driver's name was Knee (spelled differently!) |
Tunnel that leads to steps beneath the ground |
Very typical. I walked across the street just after this was taken. |
A tandoori pizza to finish off the visit and get me thinking about India |
